Resident Evil: Mission Code XX is a first person shooter.
[edit] Gameplay
Is based off of Call of Duty 4 with some enhancements. The knife can be kept equiped and can do some combos, but it is still very weak. But like resident evil, you have health, measured by an electrocardiogram. it has four colors, green represents fine, light orange and dark orange represents caution, and red represents danger. There are three difficulties, easy, normal, and hard. On easy, the viral gauge takes longer to rach 100%. On hard, it takes shorter. Normal is intermediate between the two.
All firearms have a different capacity, and the maximum amount of reserve ammo you can hold is six times the capacity. If you have two guns that use the same caliber, increase the number from six to twelve times.
In mercinaries mode, the character you are is Pvt. Jones Carlson. Every three hours represents one day in game, and you have twelve hours (or four days) to rescue as many civilians, police officers, and fellow U.B.C.S soldiers as possible. After twelve hours, you have five minutes to find a chopper and get the hell out of Dodge. The character you are is the teams radio man, and can call in a heliopter at any time, but on the harder difficulties the radio only catches stray signals, but cannot send information. In order to leave, you have to go to the clock tower and ring the bell. The rules are simple, rescuing civilians gives you points, and the more points you have, the more weapons you can unlock. You save the game with typewriters. Your character also has a virus gauge. The virus gauge stays at 0.00% until you get attacked by an enemy that can infect you. Green herbs, combination green herbs, green-red herbs, and F.A sprays stop the gauge for five minutes. Green-red-blue herbs combination stop the viral gauge and reverse's it. How long it will take to reverse it depends on how long you were infected. After the game ends, it will restart and you can play again from the beginning. Maybe you will take a different path, or maybe you will stick to the same path you took previously. It is all up to you.
Free mode is unlocked by getting one million points.
In free mode, their are several different forces you can choose, U.B.C.S, U.S.S(HUNKS unit), RPD, S.P.F(Seen in the beginning of RE3 fighting off zombies with the RPD) and civilian. Depending on which force you choose will determan what weaponery you can have and how many teamates you will have. Although the environment is free-roaming, like mercenaries mode, you can choose one of multiple locations givin to start at. Everything is the same from the viral gauge to the typewriters. The only difference is there is no civilians to rescue, and you have unlimited time. You play until you die. You can also play online.

Swipe-The crimson head reaches out and slashes you with its claws. High damage and Viral infection.

Scratch-The licker reaches out and scratches you. Minor Damage and Viral infection.
Tongue-A licker will utilize its long, lance-like tongue to damage a person from a distance. Minor damage and Viral infection..
Stab-The licker makes a loud screech, jumps tward a character, and stabs the character in the chest. Major damage and Viral infection.

Jump kick-The cerberus jumps and kicks you in the gut. No damage nor viral infection, but you dizzy out for a few seconds, allowing for a follow up attack.
Arm Grab-The cerberus bites your arm and violently shakes your arm. Moderate damage and Viral infection.
Tackle-The cerberus jumps on you and tackles you to the ground and bites your throat out. Instant death. *by pressing R3 at the right time, you will kick the cerberas off and no damage will be dealt.

Swipe-The Brain Sucker swipes you in the chest. Minor damage and Viral infection.
Brain Drain-The brain sucker stands up and runs at you and tries to suck out your brain. Moderate damage, viral infection, and poison.
